Central Saanich Police Service Chief Constable Ian Lawson is pleased to announce the appointment of the next Deputy Chief Constable of the Central Saanich Police Service. Assistant Commissioner Kevin Hackett of the RCMP will be sworn in February 1st, 2021.
“We are very pleased to have Kevin join our team at Central Saanich Police Service,” said Chief Constable Lawson. “He is a proven leader whose experience will serve our people and community well. We look forward to his arrival and welcome him to the District!”

Kevin comes with extensive policing background spanning 32 years with the RCMP having retired as an Assistant Commissioner in charge of Criminal Operations in British Columbia. His leadership roles have included Officer in Charge of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and Chief Officer of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC. Kevin has achieved significant accomplishments during his career that range from multiple Commanding Officer commendations for investigations, leading End Gang Life Program to being a recipient of the Governor General of Canada’s Member of the Order of Merit of Police Force. His significant experience working with Chiefs of Police and integrated units will greatly benefit our footprint in the Capital Region District.
