A Central Saanich man has been sentenced to jail time following an investigation into complaints of online child sexploitation. Central Saanich Police began investigating several complaints about then 19 year-old Seamus Weeks in November 2015. He was linked to various online aliases which he used to threaten or blackmail several teenage girls into providing sexually explicit images via social media platforms.
On October 31, 2018, Weeks was sentenced for several offences including luring persons under 18 by telecommunication, possession of child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, criminal harassment, uttering threats and extortion. He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, followed by a 6 month conditional sentence order and three years on probation. He will also be listed on the national sex offender registry for life.
